More than likely if you have a cheap airsoft gun it could be spring powered. Not to say that they are the only form of cheap airsoft gun, but it is often the case. Regardless, of whether your airsoft gun is gas, battery, or spring powered, the cleaning method is virtually the same. Cleaning your gun is one of the most important parts of airsofting regularly. In fact, without cleaning your gun, you can not expect your gun to have a very long lifespan. The vast majority of problems people run into with their guns are related to a lack of proper maintenance to it.

First Process: Clean the Exterior Step 1: Remove the gas tank or battery, if applicable Step 2: Wipe the gun clean Step 3: On the grit, a cotton swab should be used

Second Process: Clean the Magazine Step 1: Remove magazine from gun Step 2: Wipe the magazine with a clean cloth Step 3: Use cotton swabs to clean the smaller or more intricate areas Step 4: All parts should have a few drops of oil applied (including springs) Step 5: Return the magazine to the gun

Third Process: Clean the Barrel Step 1: Turn off your gun’s hopper system (if applicable) Step 2: A .22 caliber cleaning patch should be used with a cleaning rod Step 3: Add silicon spray to the patch (very little is needed) Step 4: Insert rod into barrel Step 5: Swab the inside of the barrel carefully with an in and out motion. Step 6: Remove rod from barrel Step 7: Replace the wet patch with a dry one. Step 8: Repeat steps four and five

Note that a cleaner gun is more likely to have a much improved performance. There is not an airsofter in existence that does not want more accuracy, better reliability, and a quicker shooting gun.

You need to be careful about what kind of cheap airsoft gun you buy if you are in the hunt for a good airsoft rifle. There are loads of them out there but make sure you do your shopping and read reviews prior to making any kind of purchase. First off, let’s get one thing out of the way. You should almost always go with an electric gun if you intend on playing at a public field or on a regular basis. You will find spring and gas powered guns to be quite annoying in many cases you might find yourself in while on the field. So now that you have established that an electric gun is probably what you are looking for, you have to think of your price range. Some of the best cheap airsoft electric guns out there are made by the following companies:

• Tokyo Marui (TM)
• ICS
• Classic Army (CA)
• VFC

The above companies usually have guns that sell in the $200 - $400 area. You can go higher than that, but many are sniper rifles and they are not recommended for a new player. They often require some upgrades to be very effective on the field. The price listed above would be for their medium level weapons. There are quite a few companies that provide medium end guns. They often are not as durable when it comes to the feel and weight of them. As well, you might find them to be less reliable. The upside though is that you will find them about half the price as some of the companies listed above. Here are some companies that offer these types of guns:

• Jing Gong / Golden Bow (JG/GB)
• Echo1 (same as above, but with a warranty)
• Galaxy
• CYMA
• WELL (Only the “R” Series)

The price range on the above companies usually ranges from about $90 - $175. I personally would not recommend going below this range because you might get into territory where the cheap airsoft gun is easily broken or doesn’t shoot properly, with very little warranty. A couple of other brands that are decent would be D-Boyi and UTG. UTG can be more expensive than necessary though.

It really is a matter of point of view; however, at amazon you’ll be shocked at the prices for their airsoft guns. Not only do they have cheap prices but they have high quality guns. They offer a wide range of airsoft guns for whatever style of play you’re into; being a sniper, CQ (Close Quarters), gunner, medic, and the list goes on and on, they have it all!

One of my favorite part with buying a cheap airsoft gun at amazon is how they have the guns separated into easy to use categories (type, power source, brand, reviews, price, discount, seller), which makes it simple for me to find exactly what I want to buy. Everyone knows (especially me, I’ve learned my lesson the hard way), you should read customer reviews on a cheap airsoft gun before purchasing to get an idea of how other players liked it or disliked it. The really cool thing is Amazon allows you to do just that. Almost every airsoft gun I looked at had one or more customer review. These reviews actually had a big influence on my decision when I buy my cheap airsoft guns.

Just a warning, looking through amazon’s huge collection of airsoft guns can easily take up a day or even more of your time. But to be honest, it’s not a bad thing!
