Got your cheap airsoft gun! Now for getting a team!
It is fun to go out with some friends, family, or co-workers and head out to an airsoft gun field. It is fun getting a team together from whoever is available at the field. This will be enough for most recreational airsoft gun shooters. During recreational play there are the players who yearn for more. These players start looking into competitive play and want to form a team to start competing. Some players just try to get a team together that plays regularly together for recreation.
Putting Together An Airsoft Team
Before putting together an airsoft team, decide if you are putting together a team for recreation or eventual tournament play. If it is just for recreation, anyone that has the desire, time, and money will be fine. For competition, only choose team members that are serious and show it. Getting together recreationally will confirm who is serious and who is not.
You can find potential airsoft team members the following ways:
- Word of mouth-let people know what you are doing
- Airsoft gun fields-get to know the people you shoot with and against
- Airsoft supply store-talk to people, especially the staff
- Local online airsoft gun forums
When you get a team together, make sure everyone knows what is expected ahead of time. Discuss how often you will play, where you will play, etc.
Recreational Teams
There are advantages to having a team that plays together regularly for recreation. You know each other’s abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. This can make playing a lot more fun. It can also cut expenses because you can drive together and share the cost of cases of paintballs. Though on most fields you have the option to stay together, if the teams are really uneven as far as skills, your team may be split up. It can add to the challenge and even make it more fun!
Tournament Teams
Before you are ready to jump into competition, start going to some tournaments to see what it is like. Ask questions and do a lot of observing. This is really important before you start getting a team together for airsoft tournament play. The other thing that will be really important is that you have the skills needed to survive out on the field during a tournament. Before getting your own team together, join an existing team as an alternate for the experience. Make sure you are serious and can commit if you are going to get a team together.
No matter what the purpose of putting an airsoft team together is, take your time. The more you know and the more experience you have, the better. To find out more about airsoft guns, buying airsoft guns, learning about safety, tournament play, and more go to The Airsoft Gun website.
